Miło nam poinformować mieszkańców Naszej Gminy Powiatu i Województwa, że już niedługo bo dnia 22 lipca do Giżyna przyjadą pierwsi goście z Grup Rekonstrukcyjnych naszego kraju i z zagranicy.

Jak co roku na polach Giżyna rozegra się jedna z bitew Wojny Secesyjnej.

A dlaczego w Giżynie? Bo w Giżynie spoczywa bohater tej wojny Johann August Heinrich Heros von Borcke.

Urodzony 23 lipca 1835 roku. Pruski oficer który służył w Skonfederowanej Armii Północnej Wirginii. Między innymi z powodu odniesionych ran zmarł w Berlinie 10 maja 1895 roku.

Jego ostatnią wolą było aby został pochowany w kaplicy rodowej w Giżynie obok swoich rodziców. Gdzie spoczywa do dziś.

Zapraszamy miłośników historii i wszystkich mieszkańców do Giżyna. Główne uroczystości odbędą się w sobotę 24 lipca 2021 r.
